Private pesticide applicator license training, testing
Wilson County is conducting a Private Applicator License Training and Testing Friday, Oct. 4, at the Wilson County Annex III in the Extension Training Rooms located at 1103 Fourth St. in Floresville.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the training will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. The training will last until noon, at which time a short lunch break will be taken. The testing will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Participants should take a calculator and photo ID to the training.
The Texas Department of Agriculture requires that producers acquire a license if they are to purchase, apply, and/or supervise the use of these pesticides. This program is for persons who do not currently have a private applicators certificate or license, for those who have a license which expired at least one year ago and want to retest, and for those who want to upgrade their certificate to a license.
After acquiring the license, the person must also acquire 15 continuing education unit (CEU) hours within the five-year period in order to recertify. CEU hours are available at various functions, seminars, farm shows, and field days conducted by Texas AgriLife Extension Service. Hours are also available through Internet courses.
There is a $20 registration fee payable at the door the day of the training. Lunch will be provided. You must also purchase the study materials for this course, which are available in the Extension Office for $40. The office is located at the Wilson County Courthouse off Third Street in Floresville.
According to the local AgriLife office, this will be the last training until the spring of next year.
For more information or to RSVP, go to the office or call 830-393-7357.
