1935-2013

Joseph Komives slipped into the night on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. Joe was born in New Brunswick, N.J., on Oct. 13, 1935.

He was a kind, caring, loving man, husband, Marine, firefighter, father, grandfather, square dancer, and friend. He lived in Oak Creek, Colo.; Hemet, Calif.; and finally in Gainesville, Mo.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Steven Komives; and the love of his life, Margaret “Peg” Dunham Komives, with whom he will be united henceforth for eternity.

He is survived by his mother, Lee Komives; his sister, Patricia Komives; his half-sister, Evelyn Margarppo; his half-brother, John Corvino; his four children, Joseph Komives, Jacqueline Komives, Judith Barron, and John Komives; his cousin, Patsy Rizco; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be held and information provided to his local friends as the time nears.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, Wounded Warriors, or to a charity of one’s choice.
