Two in custody after drug bust
Illegal narcotics, cash, and digital scales are among the items recovered Sept. 16 during a traffic stop conducted by officers from the Floresville Police Department.
FLORESVILLE -- Two suspects each face three first-degree felony charges after police here say they found a cache of narcotics in their vehicle during a Sept. 16 traffic stop on Goliad Road.
According to Lt. Chad Clark of the Floresville Police Department, Patrolman Matthew Redd reported that the driver of a tan Pontiac, 22-year-old Sabrina Gutierrez, claimed she was traveling to a friend’s home. The officer became suspicious when Gutierrez exhibited nervous behavior and could not provide specific details, including the friend’s name or address.
Also in the vehicle with Gutierrez was a passenger, 31-year-old Jesse Garcia of Lubbock.
Fellow Floresville Patrolman Billy Herrera responded to the scene to assist. During their investigation, the two officers conducted a search of the vehicle, in which they found approximately $200 cash, baggies, a digital scale, 59.9 grams of methamphetamine, 4.1 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of heroin, and 2.5 ounces of marijuana.
As a result, Clark said each suspect was booked into the Wilson County Jail on three counts of manufacture and delivery of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group I. According to jail records, Gutierrez also was charged with possession of more than 2 ounces but less than 4 ounces of marijuana. Garcia is being held in lieu of $90,000 total bond, while Gutierrez’s total bond was set at $94,000.
Jail records indicate that Gutierrez since has been released after posting bond.
