Friday, Sept. 27

Compared to last week: Hay prices remain mostly steady with slow trade activity on light to moderate demand. Most dairies and feedlots are stocked for now and holding off on purchasing more hay. Most of the state received some much needed rainfall from the hurricane in the gulf. Many producers are hoping this will benefit their last coastal bermuda cutting of the season and recently planted winter wheat pastures. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.

North, Central, & East Texas

Alfalfa: Small Bales: FOB: Premium to Supreme $7, $230 per ton; Good to Premium $5-$7, $165-$230 per ton.

Large Squares: Delivered: Premium to Supreme $275-$310; Good to Premium $250-$275.

Coastal Bermuda: Small Squares: FOB: Good to Premium $200-$230, $6-$7 per bale; Fair to Good $4-$6 per bale, $135-$200 per ton.

Large Rounds: FOB: Good to Premium $50-$80; $100-$160 per ton, Good $40-$50 per roll, $80-$100 per ton.

South Texas Hay Report

Coastal Bermuda: Small squares: FOB: Good to Premium $230-$265, $7-$8 per bale; Fair to Good $165-$230, $5-$7 per bale.

Large rounds: FOB and delivered locally: Good to Premium $100-$160; $50-$80 per roll.
