GILLETT -- An explosion at an oil rig near here in the early hours of this morning has injured one and prompted highway closures, according to news reports.

S.H. 80 between Nixon and Gillett is closed, according to the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office, as is S.H. 119 to Yorktown.
