The City of Poth is currently accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. The Chief is responsible for all operational and administrative aspects of the police department, provide patrol, criminal investigations, crime prevention, enforce all laws and ordinances and be responsible for public health and safety. Must be community oriented, have strong public relations skills, strong work ethics, must be physically fit and maintain a professional image while in uniform. A High School Diploma or GED is required. Must have a valid Class C or higher Texas Driver’s License. Must be TCLEOSE Master Peace Officer certified and have at least 5 years of experience with law enforcement agency; SWAT, Gang Unit, Narcotics or Detective experience a plus, pass a thorough background check investigation with drug screen and credit check. The City offers benefit package with retirement plan and medical insurance. Salary dependent on qualifications. EOE. Kaitlin Brooke Labus is honored and excited to represent the 69th annual Floresville Peanut Festival Court of Broadway Lights as Princess-elect of the Pursuit of Happiness.

Kaitlin is the 17-year-old daughter of Gordon and Rose Labus. She has an older sister, Haley, who attends Texas A&M University in College Station, and a younger brother, Jared, who attends Floresville High School. Kaitlin is the granddaughter of Bernadine and Vincent Labus of Hobson and Frances and Edward Hosek of Poth.

Kaitlin and her family are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville. She enjoys participating in teen A.C.T.S., helping at Vacation Bible School, and serving as a lector at Sunday Mass. Kaitlin is a member of the Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas, served as historian for two years, and participated with raising money for Relay For Life. Kaitlin has also been a Salvation Army bell ringer for the past seven years.

Kaitlin is a senior at Floresville High School and is a member of the National Honor Society, and currently serves as reporter. She is a member of the varsity golf team and was awarded Academic All-District as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. Kaitlin also received Honorable Mention at the district meet her junior year. Kaitlin is a proud member of the Mighty Tiger Band, where she plays clarinet and is currently serving as section leader for her second year in a row. Kaitlin also serves as woodwind lieutenant. She made the All-Region Band for the past three years.

After graduation, Kaitlin plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station.

Kaitlin would like to thank the Peanut Festival Association for allowing her to be a part of this amazing experience. She would also like to thank Pat and Hilary Reile for the beautiful design and her seamstress, Esther Montoya, and her daughter, Monica Cordova, for all of their time and hard work in turning the drawing into a wonderful masterpiece. Kaitlin also would like to express her gratitude to Sadonna Burkett for spending so much time to make her truly stunning headpiece and hand piece.

Kaitlin would like to give a special thanks to her wonderful family and friends for all of their great love and support. She also would like to thank Derek Moczygemba for serving as her prince-elect and his family for all of their support.

Kaitlin is already having so much fun with all the members of the court and cannot wait to continue having a great year.
