Spend a free, fun-filled day at Mission San Jose on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. exploring what has been learned about the Spanish colonial period through archaeology, and Japanese mons, or family crests. The mission is located at 6701 San Jose Drive in San Antonio.

Activities will include hand marking and mapping a dig unit, sifting through a mock dig to find artifacts, writing your name in ancient languages, and more. This free event provides an opportunity to discover past human cultures, learn about the historical significance of archaeological sites, and the importance of historical and prehistoric preservation.

Call 210-932-1001.
