1929-2013

Gustavo Rios Vidal passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, in Edinburg, Texas, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 8 days. He was born June 3, 1929, in Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Gregorio and Victoria Rios Vidal. He was a resident of McAllen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Vidal; his parents; his son, Adam Vidal; and his brothers, Amador Vidal and Ramiro Vidal.

Gustavo is survived by his son, Abel Vidal of McAllen; his sisters, Elodia Uresti and husband Reyes of California, and Annie Guajardo and husband Valentine of San Antonio; his brother, Ide Vidal and wife Mary Ann of Stockdale; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockdale with the Rev. Dennis Jarzombek officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Stockdale.

Serving as pallbearers will be Luis Vidal, Willie Vidal, Juan Jose Benevides, Romeo Benevides, Ramiro Vidal Jr., and Robert Vidal.
