Offer condolences


Gerald Duelm, a lifelong resident of La Vernia, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the age of 67. He was born July 1, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Edward O. and Irene Louise (Frimel) Duelm.

Gerald honorably served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Hermann Sons and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He spent his entire life farming and ranching and owned a drywall business for many years.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law Lothar Puhlmann.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Duelm; son Jason Duelm and wife Melanie; grandsons Tommy, Andrew, and Matthew Duelm; siblings Shirley Puhlmann and Jeanie Campbell and husband Cliff; sister-in-law Donna Alderman and husband David; his constant canine companion, “Buddy”; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 11, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel officiated by the Rev. Robert Palan.

Interment followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in La Vernia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Gerald Duelm Memorial Fund.
