Antonio Banda Rodriguez peacefully passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at the age of 85. He was born Dec. 7, 1927, to Marcos and Refugia Rodriguez.

Tony married the love of his life, Dora Quintanilla in 1954, and raised his four children in the home he built in San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Juan, Jose, Frank, and Marcos Jr.; and sister Luisa.

Antonio is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dora; his children, Mary Ann, John, Raymond, and Linda; his sons- and daughters-in-law, Mary, Richard, Joe, and Gloria; his granddaughters, Mariella, Clarissa, and Adriana; his sister, Margarita; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends. Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 14, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapel South in San Antonio.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Interment followed in the Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio.

A celebration of life reception was held in St. Leo’s reception hall immediately following.

Memorial contributions may be made to the San Antonio and South Texas Chapter Alzheimer’s Association, 7400 Louis Pasteur Drive, No. 200, San Antonio, TX 78229; the San Antonio Food Bank, 5200 W. Old U.S. Hwy. 90, San Antonio, TX 78227; or Meals on Wheels of San Antonio-Christian Senior Services 4306 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78229.
