ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Irene Laura Weller Koether, 87 years, 11 months, and 25 days, of Three Oaks passed away peacefully in the Regency Manor Nursing Home in Floresville on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013. Irene was born on Oct. 11, 1925, in the Tordia community, in Wilson County, Texas, to Alvin and Frances (Steubing) Weller.

Irene was baptized in Cibolo and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Poth on April 10, 1949. She was married May 1, 1945, to Delmore Lee Koether in the Three Oaks Church. He passed away on Feb. 18, 1975. Irene continued to live on the farm and had an active life, including with her church family. She enjoyed gathering with her family and the time she spent working at Schneider’s store in Dewees. She was a strong and loving woman who will be greatly missed.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband of more than 29 years, Delmore Lee Koether; her parents; her sister, Madalien Strempel and husband Alfonzo; her niece, Karen Strempel; and her brothers-in-law, Eugene Koether and wife Doris and Clarence Albert.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Moczygemba and husband Alvin of Poth, Ervin “Butch” Koether and wife Shirley of Sinton, and Larry Koether and wife Kathy of Three Oaks; her grandchildren, Sharon Moy and husband Jeffrey, Tricia Macias and husband Rutilio, Chad Koether and wife Yvonne, Dana Kay and husband Zac, Bradley Koether and wife Stacy, and Stacey Cooke and husband Colby; 14 great-grandchildren, Krystal Moy, Justin Moy, twins Abby and Kelly Macias, Ryanne Koether, Blake Koether, Rylee Kay, Annie Kay, Addison Kay, Caden Koether, Cambry Koether, Julie and twins Case and Blaise Cooke; one great-great-grandchild, Trenton Moy; her brother, Gordon Weller and wife Theresa of Coushatta, La.; her sisters, Jennie Lee Pennington and husband Neal of Austin and Marilyn Yosko and husband John of San Antonio; her sister-in-law, Anita Albert of McCoy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Poth, officiated by Pastor Kelly Tankersley.

Interment followed in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Bradley Koether, Chad Koether, and Jeffrey Moy (alternate pallbearer, Rutilio Macias Jr.), and nephews Mark Pennington, Steven Yosko, and Edward Strempel.
