Q: You and Barbara Niven worked together before; didn’t you play a couple?

A: We did this Western (‘Mystery Woman: Wild West Mystery‘) and we were ex-TV stars, and I had a rinky-dink Wild West show, and she was my lady. Clint Lawson was my name, and I rode a big white horse named Blanco. She (Niven) would slap me then kiss me. This is our second time as a couple.

Q: How do you describe, Bob, your character in this?

A: He is an innkeeper. I developed a little back story for him. He did have a drinking problem. He is a good man. He grew up in this town with Peggy (Niven), and they have known each other all their lives. He loves his wife and his place, and he loves Cedar Cove. He is a very straightforward, hardworking person and loves his town. He is fighting urbanization and malls.

Q: How did this gig come about?

A: I got thrown into this very quickly. I had two days to decide. I have done a few Hallmark things. They were kind enough to ask, and I wasn’t doing anything anyway, and what are they doing is a positive thing.

Q: How is this positive?

A: I think we are the antidote to “The Following.” I am tired of zombies. I am tired of vampires. I have nothing against them, but they have been pounded into dirt. This is antidotal. There has to be some safe harbor from the evening news. There has to be some place where there is refuge, where people can have an engrossing storyline.
