The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will manage a specialized caseload with a focus on criminal enterprise, human trafficking/human smuggling and other cases as needed. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas, and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of five (5) years prosecutorial experience with felony cases and extensive trial experience. Salary commensurate with experience. Resumes will be accepted through the close of business October 19, 2015. Greetings from the Stockdale Independent School District (ISD).

First of all, I would like to let everyone know about the Stockdale High School Facebook page. It has just been launched and it will allow the students and parents to keep abreast of the goings on at the high school. If you have any questions about it, please contact Principal Sandy Lynn.

Congratulations goes out to Jessica Puente, who competed at the state fair in public speaking. Jessica brought home the gold as a state champ in this event, as well as a $5,000 scholarship! Once again, congratulations.

Thanks to all the parents who attended the parent-teacher conferences last week. It was a huge success.

Red Ribbon Week is on tap for the week of Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1. Please be on the lookout for the exciting daily themes that the campuses will be doing throughout this week.

Stockdale ISD and the community are gearing up for Homecoming activities that will take place on Friday, Oct. 25.

The ACE After-school Program is in full swing providing before- and after-school tutorials and homework assistance for the elementary students. This program also provides fun, enriching activities to help our students learn and be successful!

We have the Anti-bullying Kickoff at the pep rally Friday, Oct. 18. Box tops are due the same day.

Homecoming activities are on Oct. 25. The elementary has a Shoebox Float contest on Thursday, Oct. 24.

We’ll have a Veterans Day Program Monday, Nov. 11, and celebrate Texas Recycles Day Friday, Nov. 15.

Stockdale Elementary School is in the stages of planning its annual Winter Wonderland. It is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13. Please contact the elementary school campus for additional information.
