Stockdale News:Make plans for Christmas in Stockdale
The Stockdale Chamber of Commerce held its last regular monthly meeting Sept. 30, and the board focused discussions on the upcoming Christmas in Stockdale event that will be held Saturday, Dec. 7.
Christmas in Stockdale will feature pictures with Santa, and the event will serve as a local collection point for the Wilson County Sheriff Santa Program. All guests, as well as civic and local school organizations, are invited and encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy as a donation to the program. The event will also feature the Santa Paws Dog Costume Contest and the Holiday Cookie Decorating Contest. The entry fee for each of these events is a toy donation to the Sheriff Santa Program.
Christmas in Stockdale will also feature an arts and crafts fair with holiday crafts and home décor. There is no vendor fee to participate. The Stockdale Masonic Lodge will also host a pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m. on that day.
New to Christmas in Stockdale this year will be the Reindeer Run 5K Race and Children’s Fun Run. The 5K race will begin at 8 a.m., with the Children’s Fun Run beginning at approximately 9 a.m. Entry fees are $20 for the 5K race and $10 for the children’s race.
For more information about these races, to sign up for these races, for more information about any of the activities associated with Christmas in Stockdale, or to participate in or help with the event, visit our website at www.stockdaletx.org.
In other business, the board voted to donate $800 to the Stockdale Band Boosters Association in appreciation of the organization’s significant volunteer contributions during the 2013 Watermelon Jubilee.
The board also voted to partner with the Stockdale Garden Club to host the Stockdale Senior Citizens Christmas Luncheon Wednesday, Dec. 18, and also to support the Stockdale High School yearbook by purchasing a half-page advertisement in the 2013-14 yearbook.
The next meeting of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in the offices of the Stockdale Economic Development Corp. Please feel free to attend if you are interested in becoming more involved with any of our activities.
Sherry D. Lambeck is the president of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce.
