JV Tigers get back to winning ways

FLORESVILLE -- The junior varsity Tigers of Floresville High School got back on track last Thursday evening in a game against Memorial.

After two tough losses the weeks before, the Tigers took the opening kickoff last week and methodically moved the ball downfield and scored on a rollout run by quarterback Dalton “Take my Picture” Schroller. The drive was led by the running of Carlos Cruz and some great blocking by the offensive line of Travis Quillin, Ryan “Big Rod” Rodriguez, Tyler Leyva, Colby Bauer, Josh Roberts, and Abundio Banda.

The Tigers’ other scores came on some nice runs from Juan “Juanny Football” Medina and a tough short run by Tyler “Just give me the ball” Sanchez. Other offensive standouts include Stefen “Bowling Ball” Villanueva, Darien Garcia, and Matthew Trevino with some good blocking all night.

Defensively, the Tigers shut down an explosive offense with some great play from Rafael Arocha, Jesse Pacheco, Trevino, Tony Grimaldo, Jesus Carrizales, Demrick Rivas, and Jacob Sendejo, who also had a fumble recovery.

The final score was 27-12 in favor of the Tigers to make their season record 4-2. Congratulations, guys.
