Crash near La Vernia sends three to hospital

LA VERNIA -- Three patients are being treated in University Hospital in San Antonio, according to Cpl. Javier Reyes of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Highway Patrol, following a crash on F.M. 2772 southeast of here. The crash occurred today at approximately 7:15 a.m.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Dustin Buckley, 21, of La Vernia, who was driving a Chevrolet HHR, allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. This caused the vehicle to cross the centerline and strike an oncoming Honda CRV driven by 36-year-old Mandy Lambert.

Both Buckley and Lambert, and a 13-year-old boy identified by Reyes as Nathan Lambert, were flown via AirLife helicopter to University Hospital. Information about their conditions was not immediately available.

Praying and thinking of her everyday !!! I don't personally know her, but my son is friends with Nathan. May God bless her and watch over her and heal her wounds! I know that everyone in LV is thinking of her and praying for her!

I am the mother of Mandy Lambert Keil. Also involved were my grandchildren Nathan and Skyler Lambert. The grandchildren were very lucky they received minor injuries and are being kept in hospital for observation. My Beautiful ... More ›

As of 4:25 p.m., a University Hospital spokesman said that Dustin Buckley was listed in stable condition. The spokesman could not confirm the conditions of Mandy and Nathan Lambert at this time.
