Details of county’s $8.5M election subject of election forum

The Wilson County News and Texans for Constitutional Government are inviting all area residents to an election forum tonight, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m., in the American Legion Hall at 1412 Fourth St. in Floresville.

Guests are invited to get answers related to Wilson County’s certificates of obligation election Nov. 5, in which voters are being asked to weigh in on the proposed issuance of $8.5 million in debt that will be used to fund various capital improvement projects. The ballot proposition indicates that the money will pay for “restoration and renovation of the county courthouse; renovation, construction, and equipping of Wilson County Annex No. 3 for a criminal justice center, county library and county offices; renovation and equipping the existing county library for county offices; construction and equipping of a county animal shelter; construction and improvement of county roads; and the payment of professional services and costs of issuance related thereto.”

Wilson County Judge Marvin Quinney and all four precinct commissioners have been invited to respond to questions related to the proposed indebtedness and the county’s plans for how the funds will be used.
