The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will manage a specialized caseload with a focus on criminal enterprise, human trafficking/human smuggling and other cases as needed. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas, and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of five (5) years prosecutorial experience with felony cases and extensive trial experience. Salary commensurate with experience. Resumes will be accepted through the close of business October 19, 2015. Details of county’s $8.5M election subject of election forum

The Wilson County News and Texans for Constitutional Government are inviting all area residents to an election forum tonight, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m., in the American Legion Hall at 1412 Fourth St. in Floresville.

Guests are invited to get answers related to Wilson County’s certificates of obligation election Nov. 5, in which voters are being asked to weigh in on the proposed issuance of $8.5 million in debt that will be used to fund various capital improvement projects. The ballot proposition indicates that the money will pay for “restoration and renovation of the county courthouse; renovation, construction, and equipping of Wilson County Annex No. 3 for a criminal justice center, county library and county offices; renovation and equipping the existing county library for county offices; construction and equipping of a county animal shelter; construction and improvement of county roads; and the payment of professional services and costs of issuance related thereto.”

Wilson County Judge Marvin Quinney and all four precinct commissioners have been invited to respond to questions related to the proposed indebtedness and the county’s plans for how the funds will be used.
