Letters: Today’s government not a representation of us

Editor:

Never in my 61 years have I seen a nation so divided. Congress refuses to talk with one another, the president refuses to talk to Republicans. Is this the type of change that was voted upon? Is this the change Mr. Obama was referring to to get elected? In my line of thinking it has been the plan all along. Our government has gotten too large and out of control is the problem.

The Republicans are not too far off base with recommending spending cuts. We can’t keep printing money and flooding the world with it and not back it up. This is why we borrow and borrow to the ceiling and beyond. Our government has got to stop raising the debt ceiling and start implementing spending cuts. Each time the president or Congress is asked to create jobs, this means in government not the private sector. In the private sector having tax cuts saves their business.

The middle class is maxed out and we are getting no help from Congress. We elected these officials; we can also vote them out. 2014 is not far off and many will be up for re-election. Do your homework and pay close attention to the candidates, for these people will reshape our lives and may not be what we want. Many things need to be changed such as term limits, pensions, how they get paid, and if they get paid upon getting voted out of office. If they get voted out, then the pay stops -- simple.

I am very disappointed in our government today. Neither party is representative of you and me. This is the time to stand up and have your voice heard loud and clear. We are a constitutional republic based upon democratic principles. Under the Constitution we all are equal.

I would have thought that New Guy and Facts only Please would be touting the expertise of the democrat party evident in the roll out of Obama health care. You're doing a heck of a job Barry.
