Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1922-2013

Julia J. Biela went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the age of 91. She was born Feb. 9, 1922, to Felix and Veronica Korzekwa.

Julia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who always kept active by helping others. Julia pursued her love of travel, making new friends along the way.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard Biela, in 1979; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.

Julia is survived by her daughters, Carol Jane Padalecki and husband Ed of Fair Oaks Ranch and Nancy Danek and husband Frank of Castroville; sister Lillian Swierc; brother Leon Korzekwa and wife Alice; grandchildren Robin Cantu of Lytle, Kristi Neill, Eddie Padalecki of Hutto, and Keith Padalecki; great-grandchildren Daisy, Bryan Jr., Sadie, Kylie, Jake, Luke, Kyle, and Halle.

Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 18, at 5:45 p.m. with a holy rosary recited at 6:30 pm. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Mission Burial Park Funeral Chapels North in San Antonio.

Serving as pallbearers were Bryan Bippert Jr., Douglas Moczygemba, Mark Moczygemba, Keith Padalecki, Alan Swierc, Eddie Padalecki, and Bruce Pawelek.

Serving as honorary pallbearer was Robert Vela.
