Lester Louis Globstad
Lester Louis Globstad, a resident of Floresville the past 10 years, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 7:15 a.m. in the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Bexar County, Texas, at the age of 62 years, 11 months, and 5 days. Lester was born Nov. 6, 1950, in Glendive, Mont., the son of Hank and Marjorie Lehman Globstad.
After graduation from high school, Lester embarked on a faithful lifelong career with the U.S. Army, where he traveled the world, serving during the Vietnam Era and Kuwait, earning numerous badges and medals. Lester married Holly Marie Screeton on Sept. 11, 1992, in Killeen.
Lester is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Holly Marie Globstad of Floresville; his daughter, Jessica Marie Vens and husband Rodney of Davenport, Iowa; his son, Eric Edson Kyle of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Brenden Vens and Jeannette Shuker; his sister, Brenda Ellsworth and husband Ken of Logan, Iowa; and his brother, Harry Globstad and wife Lora of Rapid City, S.D.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 5-8:30 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.
A funeral service was held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment with full military honors followed at 2:30 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Vens, Eric Kyle, Harry Globstad, Ken Ellsworth, James Edwin Bennett III, and Randy Bren.
