Joe Raymond “Chivo” Silva passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, in San Antonio at the age of 54 years, 11 months, and 12 days. He was born on Oct. 23, 1958, in Floydada, Texas, to Catarino and Ninfa Garza Silva.

He was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son, Jake Silva of Midland; sisters Alice Sanchez and husband Efrain and Ophelia Silva, all of Floresville, and Angie Contreras and Olga Campos, both of San Antonio; brother Ernest Silva of San Antonio; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Frank Kurzaj.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Domingo Sanchez Jr., Angel Sanchez, Lito Rodriguez, Danny DeSoto, Rafael Martinez Jr., and David Romero.
