FLORESVILLE -- Maria Arismendez, 27, of Floresville and 19-year-old Kassandra Palacios of Poth are listed in stable condition at University Hospital in San Antonio, according to hospital records. This was after the two were involved in a 6:40 a.m. crash Oct. 23 on F.M. 1303 north of here.

Trooper Cory Holmes of the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol said Arismendez was driving a Volvo sedan southbound on F.M. 1303 between Labatt Road and C.R. 119 when the vehicle struck a horse. The Volvo then careened off the roadway and came to rest in a nearby ditch.

Both women were flown via AirLife helicopter to University Hospital, Holmes said. The horse did not survive its injuries.

Holmes said the incident remains under investigation.

Get well soon young ladies...you don't know how fortunate you are! Horse collisions are often fatal for they end up going thru the windshield and end up in the pasenger compartment crushing the occupants. *Get another Volvo! :-)
