Since coming to Floresville in 2002, I have served this community as chairman of the Charter Commission in 2004 and 2008, president of the Chamber of Commerce from 2009-12, president of the Lions Club from 2010-13, a past member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, treasurer of the Consolata Healthcare Foundation, and as a director of the River Bend Community Development Corp.

If elected, I will use my 40 years of management business skills to work on issues connected to this city’s infrastructure. We must be certain that in growing our city, that the city maintains and improves where necessary all city services for our current residents. At the same time, we plan ahead to provide for the growth that already has come and will inevitably continue.

First and foremost on issues to be addressed, the city must immediately move forward in updating our wastewater treatment plant to standards that meet or exceed state of Texas requirements for a community of 10,000; address the needs of our streets that in many areas of the city need immediate attention; and finally, we need to ensure for our residents that the quality of water delivered to our homes and businesses meets or exceeds state standards.

Future growth is good; it increases the tax base to pay for city services over a greater number of homes, and invites more businesses to move to our city, which also contributes to the tax base to fund city services.

I look forward to working with the entire council, the mayor, and city manager to accomplish implementation of action on all these issues.
