Many events to celebrate the season are coming. Take your pick from this selection across the area.
•Put on your costumes and your dancing shoes and party with the “Sam Bentley Band” Oct. 27, from 3-6:30 p.m. at the Sunday Country Halloween Dance in the Geronimo VFW Post No. 8456 at 6808 N. S.H. 123 in Geronimo. Doors will open at 2 p.m.
Be sure to wear a costume and enter the costume contest. The dance is smoke-free and open to everyone. Open seating will be available.

•Boys & Girls Club of Wilson County invites everyone out to its annual Harvest Fall Festival on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5:30-8 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in downtown Floresville.
Tickets will be 50 cents each to participate in the carnival games with lots of prizes and candy. Additionally, starting at 5 p.m., the Masonic Eastern Star ladies will sign up kids ages 3 to 12 for a free costume contest. Children will have a chance of winning bikes and other prizes. Starting at 5:30 p.m., children can walk to downtown businesses as they hold “No Tricks, Just Treats.” Business owners will be sitting outside their establishments giving out candy to all children wearing a costume.

•Come enjoy a safe fun-filled evening at Cowboy Fellowship’s free Fall Festival on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. in the Jourdanton City Park.
Wear a costume or come as you are and enjoy tons of candy. Everyone is welcome.
•Bluebonnet Nursing and Rehab will hold a free Halloween Cake Walk on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. in its location at 696 F.M. 99 S. in Karnes City.
Everyone is welcome to attend to have fun with the residents and win some goodies.

•The La Vernia United Methodist Church will hold its Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 3-7 p.m. on the church grounds at 210 Bluebonnet Road in La Vernia.
Enjoy fun for the entire family with games, inflatables, an obstacle course, train rides, a spooktacular maze, food, trunk or treat, a costume contest, and more.

•Be sure to stop by Country Care Manor Rehabilitation & Long Term Care on Thursday, Oct. 31, as it holds a Fall Festival from 6-9 p.m. Country Care Manor is located at 2736 F.M. 775 in La Vernia.

•Stop by St. Ann’s Catholic Church and take part in its Trunk or Treat event on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8 p.m. to be held in the church parking lot at 14151 U.S. 87 in La Vernia.

•Residents in the Silverado Hills subdivision will have their porch lights on, anxiously waiting for trick-or-treaters from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. Come on by for a sweet treat.
