Letters: Rough roads ahead
Re. “Top-notch farm-to-market roads are lifelines,” Oct. 9.
TxDOT talking about going back to gravel roads is absolutely ridiculous! F.M. 3335 was rebuilt about a year ago. The lack of planning and inspection were appalling. There are several patches already in place on this 8-mile stretch of road. Rough road signs will be next.
U.S. 87 west of Nixon was just reworked too. Can anyone explain why the road base was hauled off on these two projects and given away? Then, they had to go out and buy new base to use on both projects.
By all means, I am no engineer, but I cannot understand this throwing away of our tax dollars. I see waste! Do you? Do you want your tax money to be spent needlessly?
Let’s ask TxDOT to save some money! Let’s hold contractors responsible for poorly executed jobs. Wouldn’t you do that if this happened to you at your home? Texas is your home! This is your money! These contractors ... and whoever hired them need to be held responsible for shoddy work.
