William E. ‘Buck’ Butler
William E. “Buck” Butler, 88, of Nixon, Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, in Victoria. He was born July 19, 1925, in DeWitt County to William J. and Melva (Burt) Butler.
Buck was a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed for 25 years by the Texas Animal Health Commission and worked 15 years in the oil field. You could find him working in the back, visiting with customers, sitting in the audience, and taking care of his customers providing a competitive and fair market. He loved the auction rings. They were his pride and joy along with his two sons and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John C. Butler; and a grandson, Ryan W. Butler.
Buck is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elvera Koopmann Butler of Nixon; two sons, Gary Butler and wife Charlene of Nixon and Rodney Butler and wife Dawn of Berclair; four grandchildren, Ross Butler and wife Kacey of Nixon and Tallis Butler, Jadan Butler, and Braxton Butler, all of Berclair; his sister, Dorothy Simek of Victoria; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
