File for 2014 primary beginning Nov. 9
Although the minds of many voters are focused on the Nov. 5 general election, other dates and deadlines are approaching for next year’s election season.
Prospective candidates for the 2014 primary elections can file their intent to run beginning Saturday, Nov. 9. The last day to file for a place on the ballot is Monday, Dec. 9. The primary election is set for March 4, 2014.
The primaries will include county, state, and national representatives. Federal offices up for election include all 36 U.S. representatives and the seat held by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn. At the state level will be the offices of governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, and more. In Wilson County, the office of county judge and two county commissioners are on the slate, among others (see “County offices 2014” for full list).
Voters will be able to submit applications for early ballots by mail as of Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.
