Event: Flash Flood Watch

Effective: 04:11 AM CDT on 10/30/2013
Expires: 12:00 PM CDT on 10/31/2013

Alert: ...Flash flood watch in effect generally along and east of a line from Mountain Home to San Antonio to Kenedy from 7 p.m. tonight, until noon Thursday. A cold front pushing through the region tonight will encounter a tropic like air mass across South Central Texas to produce locally heavy rainfall. The deep tropospheric moisture, including upper level moisture from Tropical Storm Raymond, will result in enhanced buoyancy resulting in very efficient rain productivity especially when encountering a focus such as a cold frontal boundary. The cold front is expected to push through much of the area tonight lying near the I-35 corridor by sunrise Thursday. Widespread 1- to 3-inch amounts are expected in the watch area, with locally higher amounts to 5 inches possible.

Flash flood watch in effect from this evening through Thursday morning. The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a * flash flood watch for the following counties in South Central Texas...Bandera...Bastrop...Bexar...Blanco...Burnet... Caldwell...Comal...Dewitt...Fayette...Gillespie...Gonzales... Guadalupe...Hays...Karnes...Kendall...Kerr...Lavaca...Lee... Llano...Travis...Williamson and Wilson. * From this evening through Thursday morning * widespread 1 to 3 inch amounts are expected with localized higher amounts to 5 inches possible. * Flash flooding of low water crossings and other low-lying and normally flood prone areas is likely due to heavy rain. Streams and rivers MAY ALSO SEE RAPID RISES.

Instructions: A flash flood watch means flash flooding is possible in or near the watch area. If you are in the watch area...plan now for what you will do if flash flooding develops. Stay informed and be ready to act if you see flooding or if a flash flood warning is issued.
Target Area: Bandera; Bastrop; Bexar; Blanco; Burnet; Caldwell; Comal; DeWitt; Fayette; Gillespie; Gonzales; Guadalupe; Hays; Karnes; Kendall; Kerr; Lavaca; Lee; Llano; Travis; Williamson; Wilson
