Wilson County Public Library is not going out of business
The Sam Fore Jr. Wilson County Public Library is not going out of style or out of business. Instead, the library is updating its style and recruiting you for your business. In a comparison study of the last four summers, the gate count and circulation statistics are on the rise. Official gate counts for just the months of June and July are: 2010 -- 19,745; 2011 -- 20,985; 2012 -- 21,362; 2013 -- 21,463.
This past year has seen big changes -- simple and inexpensive -- for the library. The library has shifted bookcases and collections to ease the flow and create room for newer and popular items. Fluorescent light diffusers ease eyestrain while working on the Internet computers. The Children’s Room is brighter, with a colorful reading carpet and decorative window covering.
The library also has upgraded several patron Internet computers. The library will continue with its one-on-one computer instruction. Simply call the library at 830-393-7361 to schedule your appointment.
This summer, the library added a new genre of books. Graphic novels for teen readers are now available. These were so popular this summer that they could not be cataloged fast enough for patrons.
Overall, the Wilson County Public Library is growing and changing to accommodate its patronage.
