Offer condolences


John Frank Ballin, a resident of San Marcos, Texas, entered eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at 12:53 p.m. in Austin at the age of 54 years, 8 months, and 17 days. John was born Feb. 7, 1959, in San Antonio, the son of Juan and Marianne Frank Ballin.

He grew up attending the East Central school district, and had lived in San Marcos for the last nine years working as a gunsmith.

John is survived by his loving parents, Juan and Marianne Ballin of San Antonio; his sister, Ingeborg Brooker and husband Michael of San Marcos; his niece, Bridgitte Mueller and husband Melvin of La Vernia; and his great-nephew, Morgan Mueller.

Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 28, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Interment followed in the Mission Park Cemetery in San Antonio.

Serving as pallbearers were Roland Ballin, Jack Brooker, Alan Tillman, Hank Flemming, Robert Brzyski, and Dale Hawkins.
