Bernette Carter Benedict Pattillo, 93, of Seguin, and formerly of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. Bernette was born on Feb. 3, 1920, in Stockdale to Alvro and Stella Richardson Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wallis Benedict and Reuben T. Pattillo; her parents; and her brothers, Carlton and C.M. Carter.

Bernette is survived by her son, Wallis M. “Marc” Benedict Jr.; stepdaughter Jan Davis and husband Bill Howden; grandsons David Marc Benedict and wife Amy and Jared Michael Benedict and wife Renee; two great-granddaughters, Callie Rene and Rachel Cate Benedict; stepgrandson Trey Davis and wife Amy; special nephew, Mark C. Carter and wife Beverly; nieces Lynn Deagen, Carmen Carter, and Carla Mangum and husband Ronnie; and numerous other loving family members.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. in the Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin.

A graveside service was held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were David Benedict, Jared Benedict, William R. “Billy” Leske Jr., Robert Joe “Bobby” Leske, Mark C. Carter, Wade Carter, and Scott Carter.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Texas A&M Mothers Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 270933, Corpus Christi, TX 78247-0933.
