The “Singing Men of South Texas” will present a free gospel music concert at the First Baptist Church of La Vernia on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend and enjoy the variety of gospel music.

The “Singing Men of South Texas” was created in 1975 and serves as part of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. It is one of six statewide chapters, drawing members from Georgetown to McAllen and Del Rio to Port Lavaca.

In addition to monthly concerts in local churches in South Texas, the choir regularly participates in music missions around the world, such as Hawaii, Calgary, Alberta, and Vancouver, British Columbia, Costa Rica, Romania, California, and Vermont. The choir’s most recent mission project was a combined effort with all six chapters to Ukraine in September/October 2012. While in Ukraine the choir sang to more than 10,000 people and saw 4,305 express a desire to know Jesus Christ as their Savior.

The “Singing Men” will lunch in the Mesquite Bean in La Vernia before their afternoon rehearsal. The choir from First Baptist Church will join the “Singing Men” for a song during the concert.
