FFA Prospect Show nears
4-H and FFA members line up their sheep during the 2012 prospect show in La Vernia.
Stockdale FFA Booster Club is having its third annual Prospect Show Saturday, Dec. 7, at the La Vernia Chamber of Commerce off U.S. 87 in La Vernia, as a fund-raiser.
The show is open and invites fellow FFA and 4-H members in Wilson and surrounding counties to show steers, heifers, hogs, goats, and lambs. Entry fee is $10 per animal. Late fee of $20 will be charged if postmarked after Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Judging will begin at 9 a.m. Pens are limited so it is recommended that you register early to reserve a space.
A special pee-wee (ages 4-8) showmanship for pigs, goats, and lambs will also be held.
Other activities include a silent auction, with some great items to bid on, and concessions will be available.
New this year is a rabbit breeding show. Entry fees are $10 per rabbit. Take your breeding rabbit -- bucks and does. The rabbit show will begin at 10 a.m.
Also, a baked foods contest will be held. Entry fee is $5 for bars, cookies, pies, breads, and cakes. Judging begins at 8 a.m. and all entries will become property of the Stockdale FFA Booster Club and will be sold in the concession stand.
