Stockdale FFA member Jessica Puente continues to rack up speech contest awards, and recently was named grand champion in the senior division at the State Fair of Texas’ 4-H/FFA Agricultural Public Speaking Contest held Oct. 9 in Dallas.

Jessica received a $5,000 scholarship, a belt buckle, and a banner for her speech, which won first in the horticulture division. She spoke on hydroponics and the importance of securing crops for future generations.

Jessica also won 2013 grand champion honors in the public speaking contest at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo last February.

Two East Central FFA members also won first-place honors during the state fair.

Kylie Patterson captured first place in agriculture communications in the senior division, and Kaitlyn Kempen won first place in Western Heritage in the junior division.
