ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Falls City runners do well at district
Members of the Falls City varsity cross-country team enjoy a solid district meet. The runners all qualified for the regional meet held this past weekend in San Antonio.

SHINER -- On Oct. 23, the Falls City cross-country runners competed at the district meet in Shiner. These athletes did an outstanding job of representing the school, and many medaled in the top 10.

The varsity girls team, which consists of Taylor Dziuk, Kaelan Cheatham, Sydney Elkins, Sara Moore, and Madison Dziuk, placed third as a team to advance to the regional meet. Among these girls, Cheatham earned an individual medal by placing fifth overall. Madison Dziuk finished 14th, Elkins was 17th, Taylor Dziuk was 19th, and Moore finished 22nd.

Jeremiah Corey competed as an individual in the varsity boys division. He earned a medal by finishing seventh out of 30 total runners. Finishing in the top 10 advances Corey to the regional meet.

All varsity competitors advanced to the regional meet, which was held Nov. 2 in San Antonio at the National Shooting Complex.

The junior high girls and boys also had a successful day. The seventh- and eighth-grade girls placed second as a team. The team is made up of eighth-graders Jordan Grier, Annica Lyssy, and Deedra Van Winkle, and seventh-graders Heather Hons, Nikki Kowalik, Lupita Molina, Shanna Swierc, and Ashlynn Villarreal. Swierc earned an individual medal with her second-place finish, as did Grier and Kowalik, who finished seventh and 10th, respectively.

The junior high boys who competed are eighth-grader Andrew Malcolm and seventh-grader Caleb Villarreal. Malcolm finished in the top 10 with a second-place medal, while Villarreal finished fourth to also earn a medal.
