Letter: Do not stop Sen. Ted Cruz
Re: “Sen. Cruz needs to be stopped,” Oct. 30
I’ll start by saying even though I vote in the Republican primaries, I don’t consider myself a party person. I try to look at the candidate’s record and background and go from there.
When Mr. Chatham said Mr. Cruz is not representing all his constituents and needs recalling, that’s untrue. I know a lot of folks who think he is doing a great job. Finally we have someone in Washington who has the guts to stand up for their convictions. Most politicians, Democrats or Republicans, that have been in Washington more than eight years have been contaminated. They have let us down and we are now paying for their lack of action and self-interest.
As a nation’s financial base weakens, and ours has, so does its influence around the world. We are now less respected than any time I can remember. As this happens, our enemies become bolder and our allies become fearful of our ability to lead, and this is happening. The proof of this is in a recent poll. Russia’s Vladimir Putin is now the most powerful person in the world. President Obama is No. 2. Isn’t that sad?
Fred Gonzales of Floresville thinks we need to “dance with the one who brung us.” I’m not sure who brung him, but I’m sorry to say, most of the ones I have danced with have stepped on my toes and I don’t want to dance with them anymore. I want another partner.
This hope and change the president talked about is not the hope and change I was expecting, and it will eventually turn America into a second-rate country. Please wake up, neighbors.
