Karnes/Wilson Juvenile Probation Department is seeking the following positions: Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. Position is year round supervising juvenile offenders, making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Attendance/Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. The Attendance Officer works same hours as the school districts providing prevention services to children and parents who have issues with truancy. Juvenile Probation Officer will manage a small caseload of juvenile offenders making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Position is year round.  Individual must be versatile and able to separate prevention from intervention skills. Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor within the environment of the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Follows JJAEP school calendar. This is a quasi-military program, so prior military experience a plus. Degreed individual preferred with experience working with children. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or be able to obtain the certification. Administrative Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor but takes on administrative assistant role to the Assistant Chief within the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Position will include direct contact with the child and parent. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or able to obtain. Prefer degreed individual. Must have knowledge of military procedures. 1959-2013

Gilbert Guevara, a lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in the Santa Rosa North Hospital in San Antonio, at the age of 54 years and 20 days. He was born Oct. 13, 1959, in Poth, the son of Lydia Garcia and Genaro Guevara Jr.

After graduation from Poth High School, Gilbert owned and operated Circle G Restaurant in Poth for many years, and was a lifelong member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

He was preceded in death by his father, Genaro Guevara Jr.; his brother, Robert Guevara; and his stepfather, Camilo Talamantes.

Gilbert is survived by his mother, Lydia Talamantes of Poth; his brothers, Rudy Guevara and wife Garnie, Ray Guevara and wife Sylvia, and David Guevara and wife Arsilia, all of San Antonio, Arthur Guevara and wife Susanna of Seguin, and Willie Guevara and wife Rosa of Poth; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Guevara of Poth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Chris Guevara, Genaro Guevara, Jacob Guevara, Robbie Guevara, Craig Guevara, Aaron Guevara, and Louie Guevara.

They say you write your on homily by the way you lived. Gilbert lived a life of family, integrity, morals, & values. My condolences to the Guevara family. May he rest in peace.
