Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

1953-2013

Robert Medina, 60, of Waelder and formerly of Smiley, Texas, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, in San Antonio. He was born Sept. 21, 1953, in Gonzales County to Marcela (Longoria) and Lauriano Medina Sr.

Robert was a very loving man who loved spending time with his family taking trips, having barbecues, and always telling jokes. He was always outside making and building different projects. Robert was a very good man with a huge heart. He will be greatly missed, said his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Cody Medina; and a sister, Mamie Aleman.

Robert is survived by his wife, Rosie Martinez; his children, Makayla Medina, Jennifer Medina, Richard Medina, Robert Medina, and Stacy Medina; numerous grandchildren; his brothers, Larry Medina Jr., Domingo Medina, and Joe Medina; his sister, Susie Rice; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 8, from 5-8 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley, with the Rev. Ouseph Kuriakose officiating.

Interment followed in the Wrightsboro Cemetery in Wrightsboro.
