ESD No. 3 board addresses staffing, considers priorities
STOCKDALE -- With the ink barely dried on a contract with the Stockdale Emergency Medical Services Association (EMS), the Wilson County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 3 board has begun work on two priorities identified during its August meeting.
The first order of business Nov. 7 was to obtain the signatures needed to finalize the contract that begins Jan. 1, 2014.
The commissioners then addressed priorities identified by Stockdale EMS Director David Rice. Personnel topped the list. Rice will advertise for staff in January.
Rice reported that the EMS has obtained a stretcher to replace one in disrepair. The replacement cost, approximately $19,000, was included in the ESD’s budget.
In other business, the board:
•Heard a report from President Lynn Ray West that the contract with Anna Gonzales, Wilson County tax assessor-collector, is complete. Gonzales will serve as the collector of the ESD No. 3 taxes.
•Approved the payment of $1,441.66 to Burns Anderson Jury & Brenner for attorney fees related to contract revisions between ESD No. 3 and the Stockdale EMS Association.
•Appointed director Todd Lawson to purchase a file cabinet to store the ESD’s necessary paperwork. The cabinet will be located in the office of the JH Bain & Sarabel Bain Memorial Emergency Services Facility.
•Heard that repairs to an ambulance for a blown engine have amounted to $9,500.
•Asked director Teri Wolff to contact LeAnn Hosek, Wilson County emergency management coordinator, regarding how to change the county’s Emergency Service Number (ESN) districts from three to just one.
•Heard that directors West and Lawson will need to be reappointed to another term each by the Wilson County commissioners. Both agreed to continue to serve.
•Discussed inviting donations to the Stockdale EMS and recognizing the donors.
The next meeting is set for Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m.
Wilson County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 3 meeting, Nov. 7. In attendance: board members Lynn Ray West, August Moczygemba, Todd Lawson, Kirby Urrabazo, and Teri Wolff; and Stockdale Emergency Medical Services Director David Rice.
