With holiday supplies already covering the store shelves, Wilson County individuals, families, churches, and groups are working to make Christmas a reality for needy kids around the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and notes of encouragement. Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, is ramping up as residents prepare to collect hundreds of gift-filled shoeboxes during National Collection Week Monday, Nov. 18, through Monday, Nov. 25.

Everyone is welcome to drop off a packed shoebox at the Oak Hills Community Church at 90 Eagle Creek Ranch Blvd. (U.S. 181) north of Floresville during the following hours:

•Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 18-20, 1-6 p.m.;

•Thursday, Nov. 21, 9 a.m. to noon;

•Friday, Nov. 22, 1-6 p.m.;

•Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.;

•Sunday, Nov. 24, 2-5 p.m.; or

•Monday, Nov. 25, 9 a.m. to noon.

The First Baptist Church in La Vernia at 201 S. Crews St. will also be a drop-off site during the following days:

•Monday through Thursday, Nov. 18-21, 10 a.m. to noon;

•Friday, Nov. 22, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
