The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will work directly under the Border Prosecution Unit Initiative dedicated to Human Trafficking/Human Smuggling. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years prosecutorial experience and extensive felony trial experience. 1918-2013

Fidel Gonzales Sr. passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 95 years, 6 months, and 1 day. He was born April 24, 1918, in Wilson County to Jose Angel and Maria Mormolejo Gonzales. He was a resident of Floresville for 60 years. He was a member of El Mesias United Methodist Church and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Sendejo; his sisters, Emilia Tejeda, Minnie Pena, and Maria Guerra; and his brothers, Frank Gonzales, Fernando Gonzales, Joe Tony Gonzales, and Ralph Gonzales.

Fidel is survived by his wife, Mary Anna Gonzales of Floresville; his children, Eloy Gonzales, Fidel Gonzales Jr., Eddie Gonzales and wife Mary Lou, and Rudy Gonzales and wife Sherel, all of Floresville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A prayer service was held Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in El Mesias United Methodist Church in Floresville.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
