Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Anita “Nita” Jauer Raabe, age 74 years, 11 months, and 11 days, passed away in her residence in McCoy, Texas, on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013. Anita was born on Nov. 27, 1938, in Hobson to Harry and Mary Bordovsky Jauer.

She attended school in Falls City and continued her education at Seton School of Nursing in 1960. She began working at Karnes County Hospital, and after only six months, she accepted a position at the Baptist Hospital. Anita married Willam Floyd Raabe in Hobson on Nov. 11, 1961. In November of 1966, she began working at the San Antonio State Hospital, where she was awarded by the Texas Public Employees Association in 1993, and became certified as a psychiatric and mental health nurse in 1995. After retiring, Anita and her husband moved to McCoy and became members of the Three Oaks community. She enjoyed playing dominos with friends, crocheting keepsakes for friends and family, and volunteering her time in activities such as 4-H, Texas Public Employees Association, District 8 Nurses Association, the Food Pantry for the Poth area, and the Three Oaks EE Club.

Anita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 46 years, William Raabe; her parents; her sister, Margaret Borchers; her sisters-in-law, Wanda Jauer, Jeanie Raabe, and Barbara Raabe; and her brothers-in-law, Howard Gueldner, Fabian Pawelek, Frank Turner, Kenneth Raabe, and George Raabe.

She is survived by her children, Geneva Valchar and husband Charles, Cecil Raabe, and Robert Raabe; her granddaughter, Jenna Raabe; her brothers, Bill Jauer and wife Nelda, Pete Jauer and wife Linda, and John Jauer; her sisters, Betty Ann Pawelek, Frances Raabe and husband Howard, Janie Cotter and husband Gary, Irene Speed and husband Mike, Mary Ann Turner, Patty Gueldner, Gina Hillock and husband Gary, Micky Atkinsson, Becky Quiroz and husband Raul, Barbara Pittman and husband Wayne, Ruthie Matocha, and Dorothy Jauer; her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Raabe and Irene Hons and husband Tony; and her brothers-in-law, Ron Borchers and David Raabe and wife Theresa.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Steve Speed, Matt Pittman, Josh Cotter, Matt Jauer, and Curt Raabe.

Serving as honorary pallbearer was Terry Gawlik.
