Congratulations to the Brahma football team and Lady Brahma volleyball team for making the playoffs as well as our regional qualifiers for cross country! Great job of representing the district!

The seventh-grade class took a field trip Nov. 13 to the missions and Barney Smith’s Toilet Seat Museum in San Antonio. At Barney Smith’s Toilet Seat Museum, the students were able to meet this very charming and eclectic 92-year-old man named Barney Smith. He is a retired master plumber who started constructing his unique artwork after he found himself with over 100 toilet seats just lying around. He has all kinds of themes for his artwork, from sports all the way to dental. His work definitely has a variety and there is at least one toilet seat that everyone can connect with and really appreciate.

The Stockdale Junior High will host a Scholastic Book Fair in the main library for all Stockdale Independent School District (ISD) students during the week of Dec. 2-8. We are hoping this becomes an annual event. We are asking for volunteers to work, so if you know of any parents who would be interested, ask them to call the junior high school office at 830-996-3153.

Stockdale Elementary School is getting ready for the holidays. The elementary campus will have the annual Thanksgiving feast Tuesday, Nov. 26. Please check your child’s folder for the times.

Also, everyone needs to gear up for the annual Winter Wonderland. Mark Saturday, Dec. 13, on your calendar for this great event!

Stockdale High School wants to thank everyone who was involved with “Passport for Learning.” It was a great success. Also, make sure you follow Stockdale High school on Facebook. It’s a great way to keep abreast of the happenings at the campus.

Wow! Things are really happening at the football field. The bleachers are gone and work has begun on the new all-weather track. Completion date is expected to be around Feb. 1!

The teachers of the month for October are Jason Cunningham, elementary school; Ashley West, junior high school; and Chet Burrier, high school. Congratulations to these fine teachers!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Paul Darilek is the superintendent of the Stockdale Independent School District.
