ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Stockdale News: Make plans for ‘Christmas in Stockdale’

Please join us for “Christmas in Stockdale” on Saturday, Dec. 7. Festivities for this year’s celebration will commence with the Reindeer Run 5K race at 9 a.m., followed by the Jingle Bell Children’s Fun Run at approximately 9:45 a.m. Day of race registration for both races will begin at 7:45 a.m. at 1009 West Jackson St. in Stockdale. Early registration is open now at www.athleteguild.com and is available through Friday, Dec. 6. Entry in the Reindeer Run 5K race is $20 per person for early registration or $25 per person on the day of race. Awards will be given to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each of the following categories: 13 years and younger, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-plus. All participants will be given a T-shirt.

Entry in the Jingle Bell Children’s Fun Run is $10 per child. Each child will receive a participation ribbon; the top boy and top girl finishers will also receive medals, and T-shirts will be given to all participants. For more information or for registration forms, visit www.stockdaletx.org.

Other events featured at “Christmas in Stockdale” will include:

•Pictures with Santa

•Holiday cookie decorating contest

•Arts and crafts fair

•“Santa Paws” Dog Costume Contest.

The Stockdale Masonic Lodge will also host its annual pancake breakfast in conjunction with “Christmas in Stockdale” beginning at 7 a.m. and running until 10 a.m.

Additionally, as always, “Christmas in Stockdale” is an official drop-off site for the Wilson County Sheriff Santa Program. All guests are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to benefit the underprivileged children of Wilson County.

Appreciation party

The Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Watermelon Jubilee volunteer appreciation party Saturday, Dec. 7, from 7-11 p.m. in the Community Building. Food, drinks, and entertainment will be provided. If you volunteered in any capacity during the 2013 Watermelon Jubilee, please join us!

Lighting contest, more

Judging for the annual Christmas Lighting Contest will be held during the week of Dec. 9 with small cash prizes and bragging rights going to the winners.

The Stockdale Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a partner, once again, in the annual Senior Citizens Christmas Luncheon, which will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the Stockdale Community Building.

The next regular meeting of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce board of directors will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. in the offices of the Stockdale Economic Development Corp. Feel free to attend this meeting if you are interested in becoming more involved with any of our activities.
