HAMMOND, La. -- Flores-ville native Erica “Goose” Hernandez was the spotlight player of the game during the Southeastern Louisiana University Lady Lions’ Nov. 7 season opener in the University Center.

Following the Lady Lions’ 78-68 win over the University of Mobile, fans young and old lined up for an autographed trading card of the 2012 Floresville High School graduate and former Jaguar basketball standout.

As a freshman, Hernandez played in 27 games, finishing third on the team in 3-point field goals with 24. She was the team’s top scorer and had a season high of 15 points against Sam Houston State, and had 12 points on four-for-six shooting from beyond the arc in the Lady Lions’ 72-68 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She shot a perfect three-for-three from 3-point land during Southeastern Louisiana’s games with the University of New Orleans and Central Arkansas.

For a 2013-14 Lady Lions schedule, roster, or player information, visit the university’s athletics website at www.lionsports.net.
