FLORESVILLE -- Police are investigating a burglary at Floresville City Hall on D Street that occurred sometime before 6:45 a.m. Nov. 26.

Police officials deferred all comment to City Manager Henrietta Turner, who reported that an officer on patrol discovered that a rear door to the building was ajar. Upon entry, officers learned that items, including the keys to a silver 2005 Ford Escape used by the city’s Permits and Code Compliance Office, were missing.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle, which a worker had parked outside City Hall the day before, also was missing. Turner said the sport-utility vehicle was found parked in the driveway of a parking lot near the former Carmel’s Mexican Restaurant off Second Street. The vehicle was locked.

Turner said the city is reviewing its security protocol and making changes, where necessary. She urges anyone with information about this incident to call the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055.

Anonymous tips -- for which cash rewards are available if information leads to an arrest -- can be furnished to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or http://bit.ly/NDrIut.
