The U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service offers voluntary programs to eligible landowners and agricultural producers to provide financial and technical assistance to help manage natural resources in a sustainable manner.

One of these programs, the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, is a voluntary program that provides financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers to help plan and implement conservation practices that address natural resource concerns. The program also provides opportunities for participants to improve soil, water, plant, animal, air, and related resources on agricultural land and non-industrial private forestland.

Owners of land in agricultural or forest production or persons who are engaged in livestock, agricultural, or forest production on eligible land and that have a natural resource concern on the land may participate in this environmental program. Contracts are written up to a maximum term of 10 years.

Applications for the Environmental Quality Incentive Program are accepted on a continuous basis; however, the Natural Resources Conservation Service establishes application “cut-off” or submission deadline dates for evaluation and ranking of eligible applications.

To obtain an application, visit your local Natural Resources Conservation Service field office at 1106 10th St. in Floresville or call 830-393-3555, ext. 3.
