Raymond J. Pena Sr., a lifelong resident of Falls City, Texas, entered eternal rest Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at 10:48 a.m. in his residence in Falls City at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 13 days. Raymond was born April 16, 1942, in Hobson, the son of Pedro “Pete” and Aurora Molina Pena.

He attended schools in Hobson and Falls City, and spent his life working as a carpenter and painter, with talents in many trades. Raymond married Lucy Garcia on June 13, 1963, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, where he was a member. Raymond liked sports and especially loved being a faithful supporter of the Dallas Cowboys football team.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his other siblings.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Lucy Garcia Pena of Falls City; his children, Cynthia Galvan and husband Johnny of Falls City and Raymond Jessie Pena Jr. and wife Sandra of Floresville; his grandchildren, Candace Albright, Chancie Galvan, Chelsea Galvan, Deyna Pena, Valerie Pena, Justin Pena, and Amber Pena; his great-grandchildren, Abcde, Joshua, Jordan, Liam, Jaraden, Jayden, Kinsley, Madelyn, and Ayden; and his siblings, Lucy Serna, Anita Galvan, Sam Pena, Linda Pena, and Gilbert Pena.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, officiated by the Rev. Gregory Sawicki.

Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Falls City.

Serving as pallbearers were Justin Ray Pena, Sammie Pena Jr., Steven Barrientez, Donald Galvan, Andy Lopez, and Chris Galvan. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ruel Serna and John Daniel Arevalos.
