Eagle Ford: October jobless numbers fall
According to Workforce Solutions Alamo, the Wilson County unemployment rate decreased to 5.9 percent in September. The unemployment rate decreased to 5.3 percent in October.
Wilson County’s October unemployment rate registered lower than the overall jobless rate of 5.8 percent for the 12-county Workforce Solutions Alamo area, which includes Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, and Wilson counties. Gillespie County registered the lowest unemployment rate in October at 3.7 percent, while Atascosa County registered the highest, at 6.1 percent.
When the Workforce Solutions Alamo metro area is compared to the state and nation, the Texas unadjusted (actual) unemployment rate reported at 6.3 percent in September and decreased to 6 percent in October. The nation’s unadjusted (actual) unemployment reported at 7 percent in September, and remained unchanged in October. Comparatively, the state and nation release seasonally adjusted unemployment rates with Texas reporting a 6.2 percent jobless rate for October and the nation reporting a 7.3 percent jobless rate for October.
