Help fill sheriffs photo gallery
Wilson County Historical Society docent Ralph Gerhardt (left) opens the Old Jailhouse Museum on the courthouse square in downtown Floresville Nov. 26 for Wilson County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher Leslie Garza, Dispatch Supervisor Nita Harrell, and Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. The sheriff’s office invites images to complete a portrait gallery of all the county’s sheriffs.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is inviting help from the public for a project dear to the hearts of its members.
In the Old Jailhouse Museum on the Wilson County Courthouse square is a partial gallery of photos and images of past sheriffs of the county. Nita Harrell, the dispatch supervisor for the sheriff’s office, and dispatcher Leslie Garza are working to gather images of all who have served as county sheriff, to make the gallery complete.
They have received help from members of the Wilson County Historical Society, who have provided access to the historical archives. This has produced photos and images of some of the past sheriffs, but the list remains incomplete.
To fill the missing spaces, Harrell and Garza are asking for help from community members, businesses, and history buffs to share or locate portraits of the following sheriffs:
Samuel W. Barker, 1860
Charles Y. Sang, 1864
Manuel Flores, 1867
W.W. Black, 1867
Lorenzo Trevino, 1868
Pierrie Regis “Pedro” Trial, 1869
Nemenico De La Zerda, 1869
Antonio S. Flores, 1884
J.R. Wyatt, 1886
J.S. Craighead, 1894
Janie Sample Boothe, 1939, first female sheriff.
To assist or donate images, contact Harrell at 830-393-2535, ext. 261, or email@example.com.
